Like most places, you cannot fully understand the culture and traditions without trying their food. Kuala Lumpur is all about eating, and the best eating isn't in the air-conditioned restaurants. From its Red Light District image, Jalan Alor is now offering gastronomical excitement to all people. The stalls are parked all along the street. It is quite an overwhelming experience for the first timers, who may have some difficulty on deciding where to eat.
It is the food haven not only for locals but for tourists as well. It is KL's biggest collection of roadside restaurants sprawls along Jalan Alor, just north of Jalan Bukit Bintang. From around 5pm till late every evening, the street transforms into a continuous open-air restaurant, with hundreds of plastic tables and chairs and rival caterers shouting out to passers-by to drum up business.
Most places serve alcohol and you can sample pretty much every Malay, Chinese and Thai dish imaginable, from grilled fish and satay to kai-lan (Chinese greens) in oyster sauce and fried noodles with frogs' legs. The best way to experience the food street is to stroll along looking at the signs and the dishes on the tables to see what takes your fancy. (lonelyplanet.com)

While walking towards Jalan Alor, we saw this little food cart that sells burgers, just outside a 7 Eleven Store. It looks so yummy that's why we decided to try it out.
And it really is delicious! I ordered a Chicken Burger Special. hehe
There is also a cart that sells bread and other deep-fried pastries.
and yes! we have arrived. hehe After a few minutes of walking, now we are at Jalan Alor.

Here are some of the stalls of street food we've seen and tried.
It's like their version of a Pinoy Buko Halo-Halo.
Most of the stalls and reastaurant in the area is Chinese with a mix of Malay Cuisine.
For our first food trip for this afternoon, we tried satays and everything on skewers.

Lychee Fruit
If you're planning to eat satays or anything on skewers, don't miss to try their sauces. It really compliments the taste of the food.
By night, we started our food trip by eating Durian; though it's not as yummy as what i usually have in Davao, but still it's delicious. Truly "smells like hell, but tastes like heaven".
Then off to hunt a reastaurant where we'll be having our Malaysian Dinner, street style! hehe
Along the streets of Jalan Alor, you'll see a lot of people with disability that is performing for money.
For our last dinner in Kuala Lumpur, we had Laksa, Satays and their Malaysian fried rice.
There is character in the Jalan Alor night, one not easily put into words. It takes on a life of its own each night, and seems different with every visit.
