Mykie's Private Kitchen

People always want to try something new. Now a unique dining experience is being offered here in Davao. It's not like any restaurants you've been to, so it’s a must-try!

Mykie's Private Kitchen, a humble home turned classy and elegant restaurant, is located inside Ladislawa Village. This place is owned and operated by two friends - Chef Mykie Hao and Chef Topher Lopez - who came up with this idea, with a little push from friends they cooked for.

It caters to only a limited number of people at a time; and for you to be able to try their dishes; you must place a reservation at least a day or two before. You can choose between dining indoors or al fresco (outside).

The place has a nice ambiance with a minimalist set-up that has a classy and elegant feel. Plus if you're fond of taking photos of your food while dining (like me haha), no need to worry. Mykie’s Private Kitchen has great lighting that will help you capture enticing and salivating food photos.

They also have a great selection of food in their menu. Expect delicious dishes that will surely make you crave for more. What’s more, their servings are generous!

Here are some of the dishes that we were able to try on our visit.

They also have a great selection of wines that will go great with your food.

For appetizer - Mixed greens with Truffle Raspberry Vinaigrette and Smoked Salmon - which is my favorite of all their dishes. I love the combination of bitterness of the greens and the sweetness of the vinaigrette. I can eat this whole day, haha!

Another appetizer is the delicate Seared scallops in Beurre Blanc - scallops that are glazed with a creamy sauce made with butter, onions or shallots, and vinegar or lemon juice, usually served with seafood dishes.

Last but definitely not the least is the Potato Crusted Scallops with Wasabi Mayo and Ebiko - seared scallops covered with a hash brown rolled into balls and topped with a savory mayo with a kick and ebiko (prawn eggs).

And now let's go to the Main Course - the first one served is this appetizing Crispy Pork Chop with Sweet and Sour Peppers. This is one dish that really captured my eyes! I love pork! haha I love the nicely seasoned crispy outer surface of the pork and the juiciness as you cut through the meat; and it's really perfect eaten with the sweet and sour peppers that gives more flavor to the dish.

After a while - dishes came into our table one-by-one. I was amused by how good the they looked. It made me wanna dig in immediately. haha

I'm such a big fan of pastas and seafood. The Spicy Gambas Pasta was like heaven in my mouth. But you have to be cautious while digging into this dish, It will really hit you hard! haha - the level of spiciness of this dish may not be palatable for some people but it surely tastes delicious! Just prepare a glass of water or wine beside you to cool your mouth.

Another dish is the Seared Chicken in White Wine with Asparagus - this is not really a favorite of mine but it still tastes good. It was pan seared to achieve the perfectly crispy skin - but unfortunately it was a bit too bland for my liking.

The second-to-the-last dish we were served is this delicate Seared Salmon - it is simply seasoned and, the salmon is pan fried until the exterior is super crispy while the interior remains buttery soft.

Lastly, we were served the awesomely cooked medium rare Angus Ribeye Steak with Truffle salt - simply seasoned but very sophisticated with steakhouse-style presentation. This is one of the best steaks I've tried here in the metro.

Of course, a perfect meal would not be complete without a perfect dessert.

Our first dessert was the Strawberry in Chantilly Cream with Truffle Chocolate Shavings - i'm such a fan of fruits and whipped cream; and for this dish I was really happy – because of the chocolate shavings that gives more flavor to the sweetness of the strawberries.

Another favorite dish of mine is the warm Apple Crumble topped with Ice Cream - it's the bomb! The best warm dessert I ever had. An Apple Crumble is a dessert consisting of baked chopped apples, topped with a crisp strudel crust. Ingredients usually include cooked apples, butter, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and often oats and brown sugar, ginger, and/or nutmeg.
